Fundir taking place at the Scottish Gallery in Edinburgh 3 – 27 April 2013

The New Silver, Galerie Ra Amsterdam 15.12.12 – 30.01.13

The forms realized in this presentation of work have come about through my experience of working in a foundry in Bogota, Colombia.

The ferocity and raw power of the casting process is reminiscent of existing forces in nature; tectonic shifts, and volcanic activity. As a result, the concept of the work changes from being merely an object, to being part or element of a significant process.

This change of thinking, stepping back away from the finished object and focusing on the processes that went into it’s realization, is a significant development for me, a departure from existing thinking and a move towards a process led form of investigation.

Domestic Matters at Contemporary Applied Arts

domesticMATTERS, Contemporary Applied Arts exhibition for London Design Festival 2012, will transform the gallery into the imagined home of a collector of Modernist furniture and 21st Century craft. Curators, Brian Kennedy and Peter Ting, revisit the parallels between the basic tenets of modernist design and the
concerns and approaches underpinning the work of some of our finest contemporary British craft makers.

Important pieces of Modernist furniture from the Rocket Gallery collection will act as the backdrop for an installation that will showcase an inspirational selection of functional works from CAA members.

domesticMATTERS addresses the link between contemporary craft makers and some of the most important design and manufacturing companies supporting contemporary British design. It is an exhibition with a mission; the ultimate goal is to stimulate and develop interaction between uniquely skilled designer makers, potential producers and retailers.
